Photo of Claudia M. RederAug. 31, 2023 — A free evening of poetry and fellowship will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

“Poetry is a Verb: A Reading with Claudia M. Reder” will run from 4 to 6 p.m. in Dullam Courtyard outside John Spoor Broome Library.

The retired English faculty member and successful poet will discuss her approach to poetry and read from her work during the family-friendly event open to the public. Broome Library will provide refreshments.

Reder is the author of a poetic memoir titled “How to Disappear,” “Uncertain Earth” and “My Father & Miro.” “How to Disappear” received first prize in the Pinnacle and Feathered Quill awards. Her poetry has appeared in publications including Alaska Quarterly Review, Nimrod and Healing Muse.

Lilith magazine presented her the Charlotte Newberger Poetry Prize and the Pennsylvania Arts Council awarded her two literary fellowships.

Reder recently retired from teaching. For many years, she has been a poet/storyteller in schools. She earned a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing/poetry and a doctorate in educational theater (storytelling).
