Myisha Arellano is a public artist based in Los Angeles, CA. Since 2010, Myisha has designed, painted, and led multiple private and public murals. Their approach to public art is rooted in creating shared, site-specific experiences. Their process emphasizes community engagement, leading to collaborations with various organizations, developers, and colleges across Southern California. These include Armory Center for the Arts, Pasadena Community Job Center, Hollywood Community Housing Corp., Somos Familia Valle, and the CSULB Dream Success Center, among others.
Their experience as a migrant from Mexico City raised in California has shaped a painting style not easily defined. Their studio work merges images of nature with political themes, portraits, and reimagined sites, resulting in alternate realities. Combined with a background in animation, Myisha’s public art practice pushes physical space to expand opportunities for engaging storytelling.
