Orientation is the first step in your journey at CSUCI. There is a lot of information given to new students, so it is important you are prepared prior to your orientation. Please review the following checklist to help you have a successful orientation experience.

Pre-Orientation Checklist

1. Log into your myCI account

  • Make sure you can log into your account in order to accept your admission offer to CSUCI. You will need to register for and download DUO, the Multi-Factor Authentication used to access myCI.

2. Register for First Year Orientation

  • Orientation registration is now open. Please visit the dates tab for fall 2024 orientation dates.

3. Pay for First Year Orientation

  • The deadline for payment of the non-refundable orientation fee is Wednesday, May 1, 2024 by 11:59 p.m.

Students who filed a 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act application on or before the April 2, 2024 deadline AND meet the criteria will be considered for a deferment. You must check the “Holds” section of your Student Center (visible in the upper-right corner of your portal). If you do not see “FA Orientation Deferral,” then you must pay the orientation fee by the above deadline or our offer of provisional admission will be withdrawn.

If you see “FA Orientation Deferral” noted in the “Holds” section of your Student Center, then payment of the orientation fee will be charged to your first semester’s account. In other words, your fee will be deferred (but not waived).

4. New Student Course Registration

  • As part of the New Student Onboarding process, ALL new undergraduate students are expected to register and attend a New Student Registration session in order to register for the fall 2024 semester. For more information visit the New Student Registration page.

5. Review your Learning Community Options

  • Students will recieve a Joining the Pod survey after May 1st.  Among other questions related to your course enrollment interests for your first year, this survey will require you to rank your top four Learning Community preferences.  Take a look at the Learning Community options here to prepare for this requirement in the Joining the Pod survey.

6. Register for Navigate CSUCI Sessions

  •  All incoming students are highly encouraged to register for a Navigate CSUCI session. Navigate CSUCI sessions will provide students an opportunity to learn more about specific programs and services, as well as crucial information to smoothly transition to CSUCI this fall. These offerings will take place in July. Sessions will be an hour in length, with a 45-minute presentation and 15 minute Q & A. Registration for these session will be available June 2024.

7.Complete Dolphin Link

  • Dolphin Link will provide an opportunity to learn about the different programs and services available to you at CSUCI. Access to this platform will be available June 2024.

8. Complete FOCUS 2 Career

  • FOCUS 2 is an online, self-guided system that will help you to identify occupations that best suit you and develop a career and educational plan: Getting Started PDF. The access code is "dolphins" (lower case).

9. Submit Immunizations

  • All students entering CSUCI in classes for course credit are required to submit records of immunity for CI’s general immunization requirements. Students should submit their records prior to their orientation date

10. Attend Your Orientation

  • First Year Orientation is a mandatory overnight program that will introduce you to important resources and services and provide you with advising/registration information. At orientation, you will learn about CI-specific policies, programs and services to assist you in a successful academic, emotional, cultural and social transition. You will also meet other new Dolphins in your assigned pods. You are required to complete all requirements outlined by Orientation & Engagement Programs in order to maintain your enrollment.
