The Research and Grants Committee (R&G) consists of seven members elected from the following constituencies for 2-year staggered terms:

  • Math & Sciences
  • Arts & Humanities
  • Business & Economics
  • Behavioral & Social Sciences
  • Education
  • Library/Counselors
  • Lecturers

The R&G Committee provides input regarding faculty and university research, scholarship and creative activities at the institution and makes general recommendations for preparing reports of research activity undertaken at the University. Other responsibilities include:

  • Establishing criteria and procedures for the application, review, evaluation, and rating of proposals to the Research Scholarship and Creative Activities (RSCA) faculty grant program, the Provost's Direct Costs Grant program, and other internal faculty funding programs.
  • Recommending priorities to the Chief Research Officer.
  • Developing and reviewing policies
  • Working with the Chief Research Officer to gather input on Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) service needs, and to develop a strategic plan.
  • Advising the Chief Research Officer on evaluation of Research and Sponsored Programs services and programs.

Members of the committee serve as a conduit for information between the faculty of CSU Channel Islands and RSP.
