Investing in Your College Experience
CSUCI is hosting a campaign to increase awareness of the services and opportunities provided by Category II fees:
- Student Health Services – Supporting your wellness
- Recreation & Athletics – Keeping you active and engaged
- Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) – Empowering student leadership and events
- Materials, Services, Facilities & Technology (MSFT) – Upgrading classrooms and technology
- Instructionally Related Activities (IRA) – Funding hands-on learning experiences
- Orientation – Helping new students get off to a strong start
Generally, these fees have stayed the same for the past 10 years, and CSUCI currently charges the lowest Category II fees across all CSU campuses. Right now, CSUCI students pay $1,060 per year, while the highest fee at a CSU campus is $6,077 at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
The fee updates across the next five years will ensure we can maintain and improve all these vital campus services for all students. The good news? Financial aid will adjust to cover these increases, so eligible students won’t have to worry about extra costs.
We are seeking student feedback regarding Category II fees. This information was developed with careful consideration of the additional cost to students. However, fee increases are necessary for critical support services and operations to continue and operate effectively.

A very important message, "Tell Us Your Category II Fee Increase Thoughts," will be in your inbox on Feb. 18 with an anonymous survey that will take approximately 5-7 minutes to complete. Your responses will help us understand how the services supported by Category II fees impact students and whether fee adjustments would be supported.
