The CSU Channel Islands Mission Centers were created to facilitate the implementation of the CSU Channel Islands Mission Statement.  Each Center supports one of the four mission elements—integrative approaches, service learning, and multicultural and international perspectives (also known as “mission pillars”). The centers offer awards, programming, events, opportunities and guidance, to students, faculty, staff, and programs that support a strong mission focus at every level.

The Four Mission Pillars

four pillars one for each center

The Center for Community Engagement (CCE)

The Center for Community Engagement (CCE) is part of a CSU system-wide community engagement initiative and one of CSU Channel Island's  Four Mission Based Centers. The Center leads academic and co-curricular initiatives that build a culture of service, activism and social responsibility. We actualizes this work through service learningvolunteerism, and community service programs that prepares students to be socially responsible and civically engaged.

The Center for Integrative Studies (CIS)

The mission of the Center for Integrative Studies (CIS) is to serve as an organized source of information and support for integrative and interdisciplinary approaches to the creation, discovery, transmission and application of knowledge.

The Center for International Affairs (CIA)

The mission of the Center for International Affairs is to internationalize the California State University Channel Islands educational experience.  The Center for International Affairs promotes and supports efforts to internationalize the curriculum, afford students the opportunity to study abroad short term, support international faculty collaboration, and foster links with higher educational institutions around the world.

The Center for Multicultural Engagement (CME)

The Center for Multicultural Engagement (CME) aims to foster a campus climate, both inside the classroom as well as outside in our broader communities, valuing and respecting all forms of diversity. The CME challenges students, staff, and faculty to commit to diversity as a source of renewal and vitality to empower YOU to be an active agent of change promoting civic action and social justice.

CSUCI Mission Statement

Placing students at the center of the educational experience, California State University Channel Islands provides undergraduate and graduate education that facilitates learning within and across disciplines through integrative approaches, emphasizes experiential and service learning, and graduates students with multicultural and international perspectives.
