Report a Concern

The Campus Access, Retention & Equity (CARE) Team is a multidisciplinary partnership which consists of CSU Channel Islands (CSUCI) faculty, staff and administrators that evaluate and assess distressing or concerning behaviors exhibited by students. The CARE Team coordinates and develops a centralized response to provide assistance and intervention for students of concern and evaluates and monitors the ongoing related issue(s).

Response Protocol

The campus community can play a vital role in helping students who are in distress. Your expression of interest, concern, and compassion is an important factor in CSUCI's ability to provide support and intervention to support students in obtaining the assistance they need. Use the following table to determine whom to contact when faced with a distressed or distressing student:

The student's conduct is clearly and imminently reckless, disorderly, dangerous, or threatening including self-harm behavior.Call 911
The student shows signs of distress, but I am unsure how serious it is. My interaction has left me feeling uneasy and/or really concerned about the student.Consult with and/or refer to the CARE Team
I'm not concerned for the student's immediate safety, but the student is having significant academic and/or personal issues and could use some support or additional resources.Refer student to the CARE Team
