SASEI initiatives purposely focus on building an institution that represents a national model for serving historically and currently underserved students. Through federal grants and CSUCI’s commitment to forging innovations that provide access to regional educational opportunities, enhance student success outcomes and increase equity in academic attainment, SASEI strives to empower CSUCI’s student population.

Our program and its initiatives continually drive to produce strategic results on our campus, in the region, within the CSU system and nationwide in the following areas:

  • Outreach and Opportunity by increasing access to higher education through university programs and regional partnerships
  • Retention, Degree Completion and Post-Graduate Outcomes through reducing equity gaps, bolstering student retention and completion, lowering time to earn a degree and reducing administrative barriers to students’ success
  • Training and Development via capacity building, cultivating inclusive excellence and reducing equity gaps

Our initiatives aim to:

  • Promote an understanding of the factors that impede access to higher education opportunities in the region and work to design an institution that seeks to diminish those barriers.
  • Ensure students participate in culturally relevant curricular experiences that cultivate students’ interests in career and postsecondary pathways.
  • Enhance CSUCI student engagement, retention and persistence towards degree completion by supporting the development and use of high-impact, mission-based practices.
  • Expand and enhance academic and student success programs to increase students’ use of services and facilitate retention and time to graduation.
  • Provide culturally relevant programming that reflects our commitment to diversity and to serving historically and currently underserved students.
  • Create collaborative partnerships that develop, expand and enhance comprehensive transfer models with regional community college partners.
  • Serve diverse student populations and their families through holistic community engagement efforts in Ventura County.
