Entrance Road Project
The Entrance Road Project includes the construction of a new four (4) lane, lighted entrance road, crossing a 153 acre site from Lewis Road to the central campus.
The New Entrance Road opened in May 2012.
Landscape Contractors have completed the new automated irrigation system that provides reclaimed water to the new trees, plants and shrubs that line the road and provide a lush landscape in the median areas. .
North Parking Lot- Phase 1
The new surface lot will include approximately 535 permanent parking spaces on undeveloped land adjacent to the recently opened Entrance Road. Contractors are currently installing underground utilities and are working diligently to complete and open the new parking lot by the fall semester.
North Hall Project
This project includes the demolition of portions of the existing structure, interior demolition and renovation of the remaining building, and new construction centered at the south end of the North Quad. It will include one 120-seat lecture hall, seven lecture classrooms (totaling 315 stations), three computer labs, lecture/lab support spaces, faculty offices, administrative offices and ancillary support offices.
With the roof tile, exterior plaster done and the painting nearly completed, the building exteriors will be complete this month. Hardscape walkways are being placed now. Renovation of the North Quad is in progress. Restoration of landscape areas will follow.
Interior wall framing and drywall is nearly done. Restroom tile and finishes in the Faculty Office Building have been installed. Interior metal doors are now being installed.
Boating Instruction and Safety Center (BISC)
The “BISC” Project (Boating Instruction and Safety Center) includes the construction of a new 13,000 square foot, two-story multi-purpose educational facility to be jointly operated by the University and the Ventura County Harbor Department. The project also includes a new boat dock.
The contractors have completed the offsite work, which includes new parking lots, storm drains, lighting, and street relocations that surround the new building.
In addition, framing of the new building is progressing well and is currently 60% complete. The new dock is in the pre-construction phase.
Greenhouse
Operations staff is installing a new Green House for the Science Department adjacent Modoc Hall. Site work and foundation preparations are underway.
RENOVATION PROJECTS
Campus Exterior Refresh
Work started this winter on the Campus Exterior Re-Fresh Project. Campus facilities workers are working in conjunction with the grounds staff on improvements to buildings and landscaping. This work will continue thru the spring.
University Hall Sound Attenuation
Operations staff is installing sound attenuators in strategic locations to deaden the sound of air travel through the HVAC system inside of University Hall.
The attenuators are in, drywall installed and the interior scope of this project is complete. Operations staff are now under the building working to complete portions of the project.
Campus Back Up Power
Contractors are installing a new transformer, re-closer, and the infrastructure required to support a new campus back up power system.
Sage Hall 2nd Floor Patch and Paint
In support of the summer moves, Operations staff will be patching and painting offices, restrooms and common spaces of Sage Hall, 2nd floor.
Street Light Upgrades
Campus Electricians, Masons, and Grounds staff are working on replacing the very old street lighting with new efficient lights. Over the winter break the Los Angeles Ave. section was completed.
Campus Roof Assessments and Repairs
Campus Operations are working to assess and repair roofs, some of which are 70 years old now.
