Process for Students Nominated for Exchange

  1. After you are nominated by the Study Abroad Office, you must apply directly to the host institution. Acceptance to an exchange program is contingent on your acceptance by the host institution. 
  2. Meet with your major/minor advisor(s) and/or academic advisors for guidance on course transfer. Secure signatures on the Academic Planning Form to ensure course transfer upon your return. 
  3. Receive acceptance from host institution. Review pre-arrival information and pay attention to their action items. Ensure you are meeting all deadlines provided by the host institution. 
  4. Complete the following (order may vary depending on program):
    • Secure a visa, with some exceptions. 
    • Attend mandatory pre-departure orientation hosted by the Study Abroad Office. 
    • Submit all required forms to the International Program Office.  
    • Purchase mandatory study abroad health insurance through a CSUCI-approved provider.
    • Secure abroad housing using information provided by the host institution. 
    • Book a flight
  5. Arrive abroad! Attend orientation at your host campus
  6. Enjoy your semester or year abroad!
