As the first and only public, four-year university in Ventura County and the only university to open nationwide in 2002, California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) will celebrate its Grand Opening on August 16, 2002.

Committed to academic excellence, community involvement, environmental responsibility and student leadership, CSUCI will open its doors to students on August 26, 2002. The new university will provide students with invaluable opportunities to fulfill their dreams of attaining a 21st century college education. The 670-acre tranquil and historic campus will offer academic excellence and innovative programs to meet the diverse needs of the surrounding communities and businesses.

California State University Channel Islands will provide access to top educational resources and expert faculty directly in the community's backyard.
