The 2007 Campus Reading Celebration book is Guns, Germs and Steel. Jared Diamond, the author, will speak about his book at the Campus Reading Celebration event on Nov. 14.

Diamond’s Pulitzer Prize winning book argues that geographical and environmental factors shaped the modern world and chronicles the way the modern world came to be, dismantling racially based theories of human history. Diamond is a professor at the University of California Los Angeles.

The Campus Reading Celebration provides an annual opportunity for the campus community and public to share in a common intellectual experience. Everyone is invited to read the same book and engage in dialogue in both formal and informal venues about the book throughout the academic year.

The University’s Foundation along with support from the University’s Instructionally Related Activities Fund has again provided funding to provide the books for new and continuing CSUCI students free of charge.
