Dec. 5, 2017

Dear Campus Community:

Since very late last night, we have been reaching out to faculty, staff, and students from our campus who have been impacted by the devastating fires in Ventura, Santa Paula and Ojai. We have heard from many who have been forced to evacuate and several others who have lost their homes. Our hearts break for those members of our community who have been hit by this tragedy and we ask that if you or any of your staff, faculty or student colleagues have been affected by the fires, that you contact my office at 805-437-8410, so we can assess the full impact of the fires and the needs of our CSUCI community.

The circumstances regarding the fires are dynamic and we will continue to monitor the shifting and ever-changing conditions. We do not anticipate a campus closure at this time, but we have asked that faculty remain flexible in meeting student needs and that supervisors remain flexible with employees. While we want to ensure that students have the ability to effectively complete their studies, your health and safety will always be our number one priority.

As the fires continue to deeply impact our community, we are keeping everyone in our thoughts, and we stand ready to support and assist in any way that we can.

As conditions change, we will be in contact with updated information.

Sincerely,

Erika D. Beck

President
