Camarillo, Calif., April 13, 2009 — The School of Education at California State University Channel Islands will host the Conference for Social Justice in Education, Saturday, April 25. The conference is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will feature a variety of speakers throughout the day in both the John Spoor Broome Library and Aliso Hall.
The conference is a gathering of Ventura County and statewide teachers and learners who will share, plan, discuss, question, compare, support and change what is done to achieve equity in schools. The day begins with registration and refreshments followed by a keynote speech and performances by prominent local educators. This will extend into a series of morning and afternoon sessions and conclude with a late afternoon performance by local students.
The event is free and open to the public but prior registration is recommended. School-based and community-based educators and students from all levels, pre-school through college, are encouraged to attend. Registration information can be found online at: www.education4liberation.com.
Complimentary parking is available on campus. Follow signs to designated event parking areas. Free parking is available at the Camarillo Metrolink Station /Lewis Road parking lot in Camarillo with complimentary shuttle service to and from the campus. Riders should board the CSUCI VISTA Bus.
