Camarillo, Calif., Mar. 18, 2010 — California State University Channel Islands invites members of the community to volunteer for its 2010 commencement ceremony to be held Saturday, May 15, in the South Quad of the campus.

Volunteers who are 18 years or older are needed on the day of the event. Assignments will include assisting with parking, distributing programs, serving refreshments, acting as guides for ceremony guests, and helping with the ceremonial procession. The event begins at 9 a.m. and lasts until approximately 12 p.m.

All volunteers are asked to arrive at 7 a.m.  As a thank-you, volunteers will receive a special campus t-shirt and complimentary gift bags filled with items from various local businesses.

A volunteer training and orientation is mandatory. Volunteers can attend one of two sessions scheduled for Wednesday, May 12 at 12 p.m., or Thursday, May 13 at 5:30 p.m.
