Camarillo, Calif. March 22, 2010 -  CSU Channel Islands (CI) will host the Second Annual Conference for Social Justice in Education on Saturday, April 24, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., in CI’s John Spoor Broome Library.

The event will serve to showcase and discuss issues of social justice at work in the community, area schools and institutions of higher education.  The conference is open to teachers, students, parents, administrators, counselors, youth advocates, activists, paraprofessionals and anyone else in Ventura County who is connected to public education in some way and is concerned about issues of equity, access and accountability.

The theme of the 2010 Conference, sponsored by the School of Education, is “Brave Questions”.  Attendees will have an opportunity to network and to share, plan, discuss, question, compare, support and change what we do to achieve equity in our schools. The day will begin with a keynote speaker, followed by various presentations, lunch and performances by local artists and activists during the afternoon.

The Conference is free of charge and there will be free campus parking.  Registration is strongly encouraged and is available online at http://www.education4liberation.com.  The full schedule for the day will be available at the same Web site in early April.
