Camarillo, Calif., April 23, 2013 – CSU Channel Islands (CI) invites the public to Arts Under the Stars, a free evening of outdoor art, music, film, theatre and dance performances by CI students. The event will take place Friday, May 3, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on the Broome Library lawn.

Arts Under The Stars is a new creative endeavor that brings together more than 120 students from 15 classes in CI’s Art and Performing Arts Programs. Students from the visual, performing and media arts will combine their diverse talents in collaborative pieces ranging from classical to contemporary.

The event kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with the student-faculty band the Art Rockers, followed by a variety of works and performances by students, faculty and classes, including Dance Ensemble, University Orchestra, University Choir, Acting, Directing, Group Guitar, Jazz Dance, Audio Design and Recording, and Digital Media Art.

Guests are invited to bring a picnic dinner, blankets and chairs for this alcohol-free event. Limited campus parking is available with the purchase of a $6 daily permit; follow signs to the parking permit dispensers. Free parking is also available at the Camarillo Metrolink Station/Lewis Road parking lot in Camarillo with bus service to and from the campus. Riders should board the CI Vista Bus to the campus; the cash-only fare is $1.25 each way. Buses arrive and depart from the Camarillo Metrolink Station every 30 minutes from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. For exact times, check the schedule at www.goventura.org.
