Business and Technology PartnershipNov. 30, 2017 — The public is welcome to join an annual meeting and holiday mixer hosted by the CSU Channel Islands (CSUCI) Business & Technology Partnership (B&TP).

The 2017 Annual Meeting & Holiday Mixer will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12 in the Vintage Room of the Westlake Village Inn, located at 31943 Agoura Road, Westlake Village.

At 6 p.m., CSUCI Provost Geoffrey Chase, Ph.D. will provide a welcome message, followed by an update from the Dean of the Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics, William P. Cordeiro, Ph.D.

Professor of Chemistry and Director of VC STEM Phil Hampton, Ph.D., will discuss the countywide network of schools, non-profits, businesses, military bases and other industries participating in VC STEM, a coalition devoted to creating STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) learning opportunities for students from pre-school to college.

A major portion of the program will be the installation of six new members of the B&TP Executive Committee.

The winners of an annual 90-second business pitch contest for students will also be announced. The contest is sponsored by the Martin V Smith School of Business & Economics, the Entrepreneurship & Small Business Institute, and the B&TP.

The rest of the evening will be devoted to networking among business leaders, industry, entrepreneurs, students, alumni, faculty and community members.

CSUCI Director of Major Gifts Carrick DeHart said the evening is a chance to connect at year’s end to celebrate all the milestones that would not have been possible without the partnerships established between the University and industry leaders in the region.

“We come together to illustrate our accomplishments and talk about the direction we need to take in the coming year,” DeHart said. “We define our needs and map how the community, businesses and industry in the region can connect with the University to accomplish a mission that benefits students.”

The B&TP is a partnership that powers the mission of the University, whether it be student scholarships, internships, mentorship, faculty support, research or other ventures that help create a skilled and educated work force.

There will be hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Admission is $25 for B&TP members and guests and $35 for non-members and guests. For those who wish to join the B&TP Partnership, membership is $150 and comes with two complimentary holiday mixer tickets.
