Sept. 12, 2019 - US News & World Report has once again named CSU Channel Islands (CSUCI) among the best undergraduate universities in the western United States.

In the U.S. News annual Best Colleges report, CSUCI was 18th among Top Public Schools in the West, rising three places from last year’s rankings. In the Regional Universities West category, CSUCI jumped 30 points from last year’s rankings, placing 43rd.

In the report’s new category of Social Mobility, which measures how well schools graduate students who are Pell Grant recipients, the University ranked 20th. CSUCI also ranked 22nd for its focus on undergraduate teaching.

“CSUCI is reimaging higher education for a new generation and a new era,” said CSU Channel Islands President Erika D. Beck. “We are delighted that our dedication to providing an exceptional and affordable education is reflected in these rankings. This kind of national recognition is a great reminder of the value we carry for Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.”

The rankings compare bachelor’s degree-granting institutions from across the U.S. on 15 diverse measures of academic quality. There are 128 colleges and universities across 15 states in the western region’s rankings.

Also included were expert opinions on the institution’s academic reputation (20%), financial resources per student (10%), student excellence (10%) and average alumni giving (5%).
