Camarillo, Calif., April 6, 2005 -- The 1st annual “California State University Channel Islands Student Art Sale Extravaganza” will be held from Thursday, April 14, to Saturday, April 16, at the University's Art Complex. Half of the proceeds from the event will be sent to the American Red Cross to help victims of the recent tsunami and earthquake.

The event, sponsored by the CSUCI art program and the Student Programming Board, will feature a variety of original artwork created by CSUCI art students during the past year, including works in painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, design, digital photography, and multimedia.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for members of the campus community as well as local residents of the surrounding area to purchase an original work of art for exceptionally affordable prices,” said Jack Reilly, professor of art and chair of the art program.

The event will open with a preview reception on Thursday, April 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Art Complex. Refreshments will be served. Artwork will also be available for purchase at the reception and on Friday, April 15, and Saturday, April 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Parking is available directly across from the Art Complex on University Drive. A parking permit is available from the Campus Police Department located on the west side of University Drive, immediately after entering the campus.

For more information, contact Jack Reilly, professor of art and chair of the art program, at 805-437-8863 or jack.reilly@csuci.edu.
