Camarillo, Calif., October 31, 2005 – For the fourth year in a row, California State University Channel Islands will host the CSU Media Arts Festival, scheduled for November 4 – 6.
The annual festival offers students from within the California State University system to present their film, video, and interactive media work for critical review. Many local industry professionals will participate in seminars, workshops, and judging for an awards ceremony.
This year, five CSUCI art students have been nominated for awards, more than any other university in the CSU system. Nominated in the interactive media category are Christopher Paterson for “Project Mysterio Website”; Jennifer Rhymes for “Jennifer Rhymes Portfolio Website”; and Charles White for “Los Angeles Toros Website.” Brad Honda was nominated for “Jerome” in the documentary category, and Michael White for “Response” in the experimental category.
Winning students will receive cash prizes as well as the Rosebud Award for the top entry in each of the categories.
Screenings of CSU student works will begin at 7 p.m., Friday, November 4, and the awards ceremony will be held at 7 p.m., Saturday, November 5. Both events, to be held in CSUCI Conference Hall 1, are free and open to the public. Seminars are open to CSU students only, who may register online at www.mediaartsfestival.org.
Industry sponsors include DreamWorks, Warner Brothers Studios, From the Heart Productions, the Entertainment Industry Development Corporation, Modern Videofilm, and the International Cinematographers Guild.
