Camarillo, Calif., May 13, 2003 - California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) announces its first annual All Media Exhibition of Student Art. From May 23 through June 6, works executed in painting, drawing, sculpture, animation, multimedia, digital art, experimental video, and visual effects will be featured in the campus Art Complex. All of the works were created within the past two semesters by CSUCI art students during this inaugural year of academic programs. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

The Art Complex, which houses the CSUCI art program's studio facilities and state-of-the-art computer lab, will be temporarily converted into an expansive gallery space for the exhibition. The wide range of student artworks will be presented throughout the building's walls, open studio spaces, sculpture courtyard, on video monitors, as well as on computer desktops and digital projectors. A unique aspect of this exhibition will be the visual and conceptual relationships between the completed artworks and the spaces in which they were conceived and created.

In addition to being an excellent survey of the student's creative activities, the exhibition will also provide the public with an opportunity to explore the recently renovated art facility and computer lab.

“I am amazed at what these talented students have accomplished during this past year,” comments Professor Jack Reilly. “There is no question that these artists will be integral to the future of art, culture and digital technology in the surrounding community and far beyond.”

Exhibition hours will be Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free artist's reception on Saturday, May 24, 4 to 7 p.m. (refreshments will be served).
