Camarillo, Calif., December 1, 2004 - Enrollment to California State University Channel Islands for the spring 2005 and fall 2005-06 cycle semesters has opened to additional categories of prospective students.

In addition to all fully qualified freshmen and transfer students, the University is currently accepting applications from prospective students interested in pursuing a second baccalaureate degree.

“We have had many requests to admit students who already have a bachelor's degree, but due to last year's enrollment rollbacks caused by state budget cuts, we were unable to admit them,” said Jane Sweetland, CSUCI dean of Enrollment Services. “Our goal is to make sure that we serve as many qualified students as we can. While eligible transfer students and freshmen still have priority, this news allows us to place second baccalaureate candidates in programs that have space available for them.”

The window of opportunity is small. While campuses may admit these students for 2005-06, it remains an open question for 2006-07 and beyond, the CSU Chancellor's Office said.

Prospective students may apply online at http://www.calstate.edu/apply/ or by obtaining forms at local high schools and community colleges.
