Camarillo, Calif., October 22, 2003 - Undergraduate students intending to enroll at California State University Channel Islands for fall 2004 are strongly advised to submit their applications for admission no later than November 30, 2003, campus officials have announced. Undergraduate applications may not be accepted after November 30.

In 2004-05, Cal State Channel Islands must maintain enrollment at the 2003-04 levels to comply with the state's budget language, which stipulates that all California State University campuses will not receive funding for enrollment growth next year.

Because of this, Cal State Channel Islands, along with the other 22 campuses in the CSU system, will be forced to limit the number of students admitted next year. The deadline for postbaccalaureate/credential students will be February 6, 2004.

"Even with these new budget constraints, Cal State Channel Islands remains dedicated to providing a high-quality, student-centered education," comments Ted Lucas, Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs. "We will strive to uphold our commitment to keep the doors open to qualified applicants, but we encourage students to send in their applications early to assure that they will be considered."

Fall 2004 applicants are encouraged to apply electronically via the Cal Sate Apply Web site at www.calstate.edu/apply. By working online, students can see if they have missed responding to a question and ensure that their applications are complete when submitted. Although most students are expected to apply electronically, campuses will make accommodations for those who have no access to the Internet. Students in need of assistance with their electronic applications may call for technical support at 1-800-GOTOXAP (1-800-468-6927). The service is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (pacific standard time).
