Civil DiscourseMarch 27, 2018 - The League of Women Voters of Ventura County is partnering with CSUCI to host an event on March 29 where YOU can participate in a civil discourse while discovering solutions for social change. This engagement in conversation is intended to enhance understanding.

Students on the CSUCI campus were asked about what they would want to address and the response was overwhelming. The topic of tension chosen is politics in the classroom. Tables will discuss several sub topics such as:

  • Do students feel professors should speak about their political and/or social beliefs in class?
  • Do students feel threatened to speak their political and/or social opinions if it is contrary to their professors?
  • How is this topic perceived by students, faculty and parents nationwide?
  • Does this come down to free speech?

Getting your point across is hard sometimes but with our facilitators acting in their role as nonpartisan discussion assistants, everyone will be heard.

Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP if you plan to attend.
