Oct. 1, 2020 - Sierra Magazine has released its 14th annual Cool Schools List, ranking colleges and universities based on their environmental commitments and practices. The List, which had a record 312 participants this year, includes CSUCI ranked 114.

While that number itself may not sound overtly impressive, CSUCI is ranked among the top six CSU campuses (after Northridge, Chico, San Jose, Cal Poly and Humboldt). When considering the number of schools included this year and the score assigned to our campus, this is an improvement compared to our last ranking in the 2018 Cool Schools list (97 out of 268 schools).

Visit the Sierra Club’s website to view the full 2020 Cool Schools List.

Since the university's inception, CSUCI has garnered an impressive list of sustainability accomplishments. From significant energy and water use reductions to being the first four-year public university in California to be recognized as a Bee Campus USA, CSUCI is poised to build upon this solid foundation to move up in future rankings.
