Cybersecurity holidays Dec. 4, 2017 - By all reports, Cyber Monday set records for being the largest shopping day ever.  With the holiday season in full swing, be sure to protect yourself against cybercriminals who are looking to take advantage of online shoppers.  Here are some tips to shop safely during the season:

  • Keep your devices clean: Before searching for the perfect gift, be sure all web-connected devices (PC’s, smartphones and tablets) are free from malware and infections by running the most current versions of software and apps.
  • Secure your login: One of the most critical actions you can take in preparation for the online shopping season is to fortify your online accounts by enabling the strongest authentication tools.
  • Conduct research: When using a new website for holiday purchases, read reviews and see if other customers have had positive or negative experiences.
  • Links to emails and attachments: Make sure you open links in emails and attachments when you are expecting them.
  • Check the address bar: Look for https:// (not http) in the URL before using your credit card online.
