Aug. 30, 2018 - The Grossman Foundation has donated funds to the CSUCI Veterans Affairs Program for a yellow Labrador support dog named "Doc." This highly-trained dog's job is to spend the entire workweek in our Veterans Resource Center caring for the emotional needs of our student veterans.
We are looking for a staff or faculty member who will volunteer to be the primary handler for the dog during evenings and weekends. Grant funding will pay for the support animal's needs (e.g. food, medicine, veterinarian care, toys, etc.). New Life K9, the organization that has trained the dog, has agreed to assist in the selection and training of the handler.
To get more details about the program and ask questions, attend the information session on Tuesday, Sept. 4 from noon to 1 p.m. in Bell Tower 1471. Representatives from Human Resources, Risk Management and Veterans Affairs will be in attendance to share the specifics and answer questions.
