Dec. 3, 2019 – The Information Security team has set up additional office hours to address questions and concerns regarding the rollout of Duo 2-Factor Authentication for myCI.

Neal Fisch, Director, Enterprise Services and Security, will be available this Thursday, Dec. 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Broome 1310 to assist those who have questions about Duo or any other information security related items.

As you will recall, the Duo 2-Factor Verification solution for individuals was rolled out to faculty and staff recently; this authentication tool is used when logging into myCI. 2-Factor Verification provides a second layer of security. When logging into a system, you use your normal myCI account and password, then use a mobile phone app or passcode token to verify your access.

By combining something you know (your account and password) with something you have (your mobile device or passcode token), you can protect your login to your account from remote attacks if your credentials are compromised.

Digital credentials are more valuable than ever and are increasingly easy to compromise. Over 90% of breaches today involve compromised credentials. 2-Factor Verification enhances the security of your account and helps prevent anyone but you from accessing your account even if they know your password.
