May 31, 2024 - CSUCI is expanding electric vehicle (EV) charging on campus by adding thirty new EV charging stalls in the A8 parking lot behind the Broome Library. This project is being completed in partnership with Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Charge Ready Program, which provides financial incentives, installation of infrastructure, and technical support to facilitate the implementation of EV charging stations.
For EV drivers this will be a much-needed expansion of charging infrastructure, helping to make EVs more accessible and contributing to university goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to curb climate change.
In contrast, the designation of EV charging stalls will result in fewer parking spaces for non-EV drivers in the A8 parking lot. Although there are plenty of spaces available in other lots on campus, we understand that this may feel burdensome to personnel accustomed to parking in that lot.
If you have mobility concerns and need to request a campus-specific accessibility parking pass, please contact parking@csuci.edu.
This project is expected to start construction in July 2024, with a target completion date in September 2024. Please use the EV Charging Project Feedback/Question submission form to share feedback or ask questions about this project, and visit the project website for updates.
