Aug. 30, 2023 — CSU Channel Islands has launched a new program that will reinvest utility savings in efficiency projects.

Students, staff, faculty and administrators can apply for loans from the new Green Revolving Fund to implement projects that will measurably reduce energy or water use. Projects can involve lighting, equipment replacement, behavior-change campaigns, building/lighting controls, renewable energy, and heating/ventilating/air conditioning systems.

The program will provide opportunities for students to participate in research and creative activities, become ambassadors and mentors for others interested in sustainability, and gain other experience that will prepare them for success in their careers.

CSUCI will not only save money, but also reduce its environmental impact. Money saved by implemented projects will be reinvested into the program, creating sustainable funding.

“With the Green Revolving Fund, we are investing in our future and creating a lasting impact that will benefit our campus and the planet for years to come," said Sustainability & Energy Director Roxane Beigel-Coryell.
