Sept. 21, 2018 - Jessica Clay, a Political Science and Performing Arts double major, published a blog piece and video recently on Tangata Group, a forum for international disability rights and advocacy groups.
Per their website, Tangata Group provides “education, lectures and training with the goal of co-creating opportunities with people with disabilities to advocate for their rights under law.”
Titled “Advancing the Rights of People with Disabilities through Performing Arts,” Jessica’s article is a reflection of her experience conducting research, creating a performance for and participating in the annual Arts Under the Stars show, held on campus this past May. The theme for this year’s show was “Empathy” and Jessica researched the history and evolution of people with disabilities. She then choreographed a performance showing the past, present and hope for the future of where she wants to be.
