Oct. 2, 2018 - The Latino Male Initiative (LMI) at CSUCI is a working group of faculty and staff supporting educational initiatives and high-impact practices that promote the academic excellence and well-being of Latino male students.
On Oct. 11 from noon to 2 p.m. in Bell Tower 1462, LMI will host a panel discussion, featuring four academically successful Latino males, discussing challenges and the barriers they had to overcome to achieve success in higher education. This event is intended to serve as a space for reflection and a call for action to address the crisis of "the vanishing Latino male in higher education" (Sáenz and Ponjuan, 2008). Panelists will address the issue from their respective disciplines and experiential knowledge.
The four panelists will be: José Alamillo, José García, Ernesto Guerrero and Ricardo Rico. The discussion will be moderated by Frank Barajas.
