April 4, 2019 -In an effort to start the conversation about mental wellness, CSUCI nursing students and faculty are pleased to announce the first annual Mental Health Fair for Oxnard residents, to be held at Bethel AME Church on Saturday, April 13 from 2 to 6 p.m. The fair will focus on self-care, community resources and why it’s important to implement regular routines for a balanced mind, body and spirit.

Mental health is not often discussed but plays a significant role in community welfare and individual well-being. The goal of this event is to engage the community in a conversation about how to manage mental wellness along with physical health. Studies show that regular self-care can lead to improved self-esteem and reduced anxiety, leading to better physical health, too.

Fairgoers can visit with community vendors, hear from special guest speakers and participate in the raffle at 4 p.m., with a chance to win prizes donated from generous community vendors. At 2 p.m., attendees can meet and greet with VIP Therapy dogs and enjoy a free yoga class courtesy of Dr. Jacqueline Sherman. A safe, enclosed area for children will be provided, with art projects to ease even the youngest minds.

Bethel AME Church is located at 855 S. F Street in Oxnard.
