Sept. 21, 2021 - COVID-19 has changed many things, including the job market. If you are a person looking to fill one of the many vacant positions available today, it's important to remember a few cyber safety tips* to avoid scams and protect your personal information.

  • Once you start looking online, you're probably going to start getting a lot of emails; be wary of phishing emails from so-called recruiters. They will want your personal information and steal your identity; don't click on any links from unknown and unsolicited sources.
  • If you're searching for employment and using public Wi-Fi, consider using a VPN or find a secure private network to keep your personal, private details safe.
  • Create strong, unique passwords for each account and utilize two-factor authentication where available
  • The last thing you need is your identity stolen; never send personal information or bank account information until after you've been hired, and do so securely.
  • Clean up your social media: many employers look at applicant's social media accounts these days. Will they be impressed or concerned with what they see?
