Oct. 1, 2021 – The Phase II: Round Mountain/ hukisunupahani lo’ka’aliyaš ’isatʰwiwa (we restore the path to satʰwiwa) event on Sept. 18 was a huge success thanks the support and participation of our wonderful campus community. Round Mountain, satʰwiwa, is sacred to the Chumash people, where ceremonies were conducted in the past and, because of your efforts, will be held there again.
Those who are interested in participating in Phase III of the project are welcome to come out on Saturday, Oct. 9 from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and roll up their sleeves to help continue the restoration of this sacred spot. The work includes trail restoration to provide erosion control measures, restoring native plants, and aiding in trail identification and educational signage.
An RSVP is required if you plan to attend. More Details and RSVP.
COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS: We will be checking in people for contact tracing purposes; masks will be required in any scenario where 50+ people are gathered; masks and hand sanitizer will be provided for participants. IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING FEVER, COUGH, OR OTHER SYMPTOMS, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THIS EVENT.
