Sept. 26, 2019 - The Performing Arts Dance program is pleased to announce the next guest for the Hip Hop Dance Masters Series. Samo Soto will join us on Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Malibu Hall 120 to discuss his experience in the industry and lead a workshop.
The New York City native started his dance career from humble beginnings and has since become renowned for his freestyle in each of the styles of House dance, hip-hop, and breakin’. Samo was featured in the feature film “Battle of the Year” (Sony Screen Gems) and currently resides in Los Angeles, pursuing dance commercially. He also assists choreographers Rich and Tone Talauega and most recently performed with Jaden and Will Smith at the Coachella Music Festival. He is also a dancer in the upcoming film adaptation of the musical “In the Heights.”
The Hip Hop Dance Masters Series features three hip hop dance workshops and lectures from guests specializing in hip hop dance forms and who have worked in the commercial dance industry.
