July 23, 2020 – A small brush fire that broke out behind Ironwood Hall at CSU Channel Islands (CSUCI) around 2 p.m. this afternoon is now fully contained.
The fire resulted in temporary evacuations from three buildings: Ironwood Hall, Arroyo Hall and Aliso Hall.
The fire was limited to approximately two acres near Potrero Road, which is currently closed.
Evacuation orders have now been lifted and fire crews will remain on scene to continue mopping up.
The University is still operating virtually with most staff and faculty working remotely; students are on summer break. Classes for the fall semester will resume (virtually) on Monday, Aug. 24.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
