Oct. 30, 2018 - What would your life be like without food to eat or water to drink every day? Families across the world continue to struggle for necessities like safe food and clean water, wishing only for access to these basic essentials to help care for each other and ensure good health.

Our students are ready to tackle these challenges by addressing one of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the third annual Social Business Innovation Challenge, set for Thursday, Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. in the Grand Salon.

Sponsored by the California Institute for Social Business (CISB) and the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Institute (ESBI), the challenge consists of a rally-type contest where teams compete to assemble a product prototype to address a specific SDG. At the start of the competition, each team will receive the same set of materials and will be given a concept that they are asked to innovate. While teams are judged on their final creations, they will also be monitored throughout the competition for leadership, team dynamics, design approach, use of time and of course, innovation!

The top three teams will be recognized for their efforts with cash prizes (per team): the first place team will receive $750, second place receives $500 and third place will receive $250.

Students may register as a team or individually and be assigned to a team at the event. Sign up to participate at go.csuci.edu/SBinnovationchallenge.
