April 15, 2019 -  Out of 250 submissions nationally, our own Title IX & Inclusion Office was one of just 18 recipients selected for a $1,000 grant by Maxient, a case management database company.

Title IX & Inclusion submitted their request for a project to revamp the space used by the Campus Advocate's support group "Healing After Sexual Assault." At the start of the year, our Campus Advocate started a weekly support group for survivors of sexual assault. While able to overcome the initial hurdle of finding a safe, confidential space to meet, it became clear that developing that space into a warm, inviting oasis for students who are already grappling with trauma would prove a more difficult challenge given current budget constraints.

The $1,000 grant the office has been awarded will go toward transforming the current meeting space into a place of healing and will allow the Campus Advocate to better serve our campus community by meeting the needs of those who have endured extraordinary trauma. Title IX & Inclusion is honored to have been selected and looks forward to hosting an Open House in the coming months to reveal their new safe harbor in Yuba Hall.
