U.S. Central AmericansApril 6, 2018 - Co-authors Ester E. Hernández and Karina Oliva Alvarado will visit CSUCI on Monday, April 9 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at El Dorado Hall to give a presentation on their book, "U.S. Central Americans: Reconstructing Memories, Struggles, and Communities of Resistance." A book signing will follow the presentation and Salvadoran Pupusas will be available to taste.

Ester E. Hernández is a Professor of Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies at CSU Los Angeles and has published on Salvadoran migration and remittances in social science journals such as the "Journal of American Ethnic History and Economy & Society." Karina Oliva Alvarado is an academic poet and painter from El Savador who was raised in Los Angeles. She is currently a Professor of Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies at UCLA and has designed several classes on Central Americans from the U.S. diasporas.
