Dear Campus Community:

I welcome you back this morning with hope that the break provided you with time for reflection as well as time to begin the process of healing.

As our day commences and the daily work of our academic community begins, I recognize that it will be difficult for some. The Borderline shooting and California wildfires were unfathomable, tragic and left many of us with tremendous grief.

Yet, as we return today I am comforted knowing that we are all part of a campus community that is kind, generous and resilient.  Whatever challenges we face, we face them as a community that supports and stands by one another.

For those who have been impacted by the recent tragic events, we have reinstated CSUCI’s Ekho Your Heart Disaster Relief Fund (PDF, 209KB). These funds will go toward supporting our students, faculty and staff and we welcome those affected to apply for this assistance.  For those looking to assist those in need, you may do so by donating to this fund.

There are a number of events occurring over the next few weeks, which will provide our community with a space for processing, healing, as well as showcasing gratitude. Details regarding these events can be found on our Events webpage.

Please take care of yourselves, as well as one another as we work together to finish the semester strong.

Erika D. Beck, Ph.D.
President
