AMA

#WeAreStillHere

During this time of social distancing, students from CSUCI’s American Marketing Association (AMA) found an opportunity for collaboration and connection with their Cal State LA counterparts.

“As our chapter was moving online, I realized other chapters were doing the same,” said Matt Martinez, an organizational communication major who is president-elect of AMA at CSUCI. “While physical collaborations were more difficult due to traveling, I realized this was a perfect opportunity to work with other chapters digitally.”

Martinez reached out to several chapters with the hopes of partnering on a joint digital learning event and cultivating future relationships as well. Both the AMA chapter and Marketing Analytics Research Society at Cal State Los Angeles were interested in joining CSUCI in hosting a webinar.

The collaborative’s first event is set for April 22 and will feature guest speaker Mattan Danino, the CEO of ad agency WebitMD. The group worked together for several weeks creating promotional ads and digital icebreakers and setting the event logistics.

“This was truly the teamwork of both CSULA and CSUCI that got this done,” Martinez explains. “Both schools were collaborating on weekly calls to make this happen.”

According to Martinez, CSUCI AMA President Andy Dosev and Vice President Fred Quintero worked hard to bring the chapter online including making personal videos at home to keep spirits high and leading high-level workshops.

“This situation has truly brought some of the best out of our chapter and created some new relationships despite what’s transpired,” adds Martinez.

The group hopes to continue to host joint virtual learning events in the future.

The April 22 webinar is open to anyone. For more information, visit their website.
