Student Life at CI cordially invites you to participate in a two-day ASIST workshop to be held Tuesday and Wednesday, May 20-21, from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in Broome Library, Room 1756.  The aim of ASIST is to help caregivers become willing, ready, and able to provide
emergency first aid to persons at risk of suicidal behavior. During the two-day workshop,
participants will examine their attitudes about suicide, learn how to effectively recognize
and review the risk of suicide, and develop new and/or reinforce existing intervention
skills. ASIST also addresses the need to develop a cooperative network among participants
since caregivers often have to work together to prevent suicide. All types of
caregivers will benefit from participation in the two-day ASIST. For more information see the attached flyer, (PDF, 624KB) or contact Geri-Lyn Himebaugh, Administrative Assistant, at ext. 3527 or geri-lyn.himebaugh@csuci.edu.

Sidewalk CPR Training - June 5

The CI Police Department, in conjunction with The Ventura County EMS Agency and the American Heart Association (AHA), invite you to join us in the County wide Sidewalk CPR event scheduled for Thursday, June 5 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Broome Library Plaza. Cardiac arrests can happen to anyone at any time. Nearly 300,000 out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrests occur every year. Less than a third get cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) from a bystander. And that's probably because many people don't know how to do it.  Drop by for 10 to 15 minutes and learn how you can save a life. For more information, contact Al Rice, Police Program Specialist, at ext. 8444 or al.rice@csuci.edu.
