Complaint Procedures

A relationship of trust and confidence between members of the CSUCI Police Department and the campus community is essential to effective law enforcement.  All complaints against the department or its employees, including anonymous complaints shall be investigated.  A prompt, just, open, and expeditious disposition regarding the conduct of officers and employees of the department shall be provided to the complainant.  It is also the policy of this department to ensure that any member of the campus community can report misconduct without concern for reprisal or retaliation.

All complaints will be courteously accepted by any department member and promptly given to the appropriate supervisor. Although written complaints are preferred, all persons may make complaints in any form, including in writing, by email, in person or by telephone.  Anonymous and third-party complaints will also be accepted and investigated to the extent that sufficient information is provided.  Although not required, all persons are encouraged to file complaints in person so that proper identification, signatures, photographs, or physical evidence may be obtained as necessary.  Personnel complaint forms are located in the public area of Placer Hall as well as through the department’s website.
