CI’s Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics (Smith School) offers a BS/Business-to-MBA Degree Program on the Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) campus. This innovative program is open to undergraduate students with excellent academic and career potential. Students transfer to CI upon completion of 60 transferable units (minimum) and are able to complete both the BS Business and MBA in about 4 years. Admission criteria balance candidates’ overall credentials including academic performance, internship and/or part-time work experience, leadership potential and extracurricular activities. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the BS Business completion program to advance to the MBA Program segment. Classes in the BS Business Program segment are held year-round on weekends. MBA segment classes are held year-round on weekday evenings.
It is important to note that UCSB does not offer business programs. They offer a BA, MA and PhD in Economics but not a BS or MBA. Although UCSB offers a BS in Business Economics, it is essentially an accounting degree taught by part time accounting professors from its economics department. Moreover, Pepperdine does not hold all of its MBA courses in Santa Barbara. They offer some courses in Santa Barbara but, completion must be done at other Pepperdine campuses” located in Los Angeles County.
