The LRC offers online tutoring and group study spaces through Zoom to all current CSUCI students. Through Zoom, you can participate in a face-to-face individual tutoring session with one of our tutors working in the drop-in center. You may also request to work in a group online breakout room, privately or with friends. You can request help from a tutor if your group needs assistance in the  breakout room. Zoom will function on any laptop, computer, tablet, or smart phone with a microphone and camera. We encourage the use of video/audio technology to optimize your tutoring experience, and also

You may request an online Zoom tutoring session or use the group study rooms any time the LRC is open for drop-in hours.

Online Tutoring & Group Study Rooms

The LRC offers online tutoring and virtual group study spaces through Zoom to all current CSUCI students.

Every tutor working an in-person shift at the LRC is also connected to the LRC Zoom Room while they are on duty. This means students joining us online have access to the same team of tutors supporting students in our physical drop-in center. When you request online tutoring, an available tutor can join you in a private Zoom breakout room to work with you face-to-face.

You can also request a private Zoom breakout room to study independently or with friends. If your group needs tutoring assistance, let our Student Assistant know and we can help connect you with an available tutor.

Online tutoring and group study rooms are available on a drop-in basis whenever the LRC is open. No appointment is necessary.

Getting the Most Out of Online Tutoring

While you can access the LRC Zoom Room from a smartphone or tablet, we highly encourage joining from a laptop or desktop computer whenever possible. Mobile devices may not provide the same Zoom functionality or make it as easy to actively work with your tutor.

A productive online tutoring session often involves more than simply talking through video or audio. You and your tutor may use:

  • Screen sharing
  • Zoom Whiteboard
  • Shared documents
  • Zoom annotation tools
  • Other collaborative Zoom features

Using a laptop or desktop computer will generally give you the best access to these tools and make it easier to participate fully in your tutoring session.

We encourage the use of video and audio when possible to help create an interactive, face-to-face tutoring experience.
