Campus Parking Update

Students now have more parking available thanks to the addition of 225 parking spaces to the A3 gravel overflow lot to accommodate increased demand. The University currently maintains 3,007 parking spaces, including more than 500 gravel overflow spaces in lot A3, in service of approximately 6,000 students.

A transportation study is currently being completed to address future parking topics including remote parking lots, campus shuttles, student housing residents, events, car pools, and parking fees.

Additional information from the transportation study will be shared with the campus community in the coming months.

The Great Shakeout headed to CI

On Thursday, Oct. 20 at 10:20 a.m., get ready to DROP where you are, COVER your head or get under a sturdy desk or table, HOLD ON to something sturdy and stay in place until the shaking stops. This year it is estimated that more than 9 million Californians will participate in the Great California ShakeOut Drill, an annual, five minute drill (no evacuation included) which is part of a worldwide earthquake drill.

To prepare for this and other major events, CI conducts regular building evacuation drills to test and verify the building fire and evacuation notification alarms. In the event of a real earthquake, emergency occupants would DROP, COVER & HOLD ON and then immediately evacuate their building with the assistance of their Building Marshals who are appointed by the University to assist building occupants in the event of an emergency.

This year, Building Marshals and the campus community are encouraged to participate in in the Earthquake Drill.

For information regarding the Building Marshal program and to develop your personal evacuation plan, visit the Emergency Preparedness website.
