Mission Statement
The missions of the Asian/Asian-American Pacific Islander Association (AAPIA) at California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) are to bring together CSUCI faculty and staff to.
- Promote a campus climate that is sensitive, inclusive, and equitable for all ethnic groups through a variety of efforts. Build a community and support network amongst Asian/Asian-American Pacific Islander (AAPI) faculty, staff, and students.
- Promote social and cultural awareness of AAPI identities, cultures, histories, and issues through the coordination and support of activities on campus and communities at large.
- Offer professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
- Respond proactively to the needs of AAPI students and community by serving as a resource and advocate.
The purpose of the AAPIA shall be to:
- Foster interactions and partnerships between the university and the greater AAPI communities.
- Cultivate a campus climate that is culturally sensitive, inclusive, representative, and equitable for all ethnic groups.
- Build a community by promoting social and cultural awareness of different AAPI groups on campus and in the surrounding communities at large.
- Offer professional development opportunities for faculty and staff that support the needs of the AAPI community.
- Coordinate and support activities that enhance the awareness of cultural diversities.
- Respond proactively to the needs of the AAPI student body at CSUCI, with a commitment to broadening the curriculum with regard to AAPI culture and issues by closely working with the CI community and providing scholarships to recognize academic excellence in AAPI student body.
- Provide a welcoming and supportive environment for new AAPI faculty and staff.
- Create and provide a social support network of partnerships and personal friendships among the members of the association.
- Increase the involvement of AAPI faculty and staff in all levels of university life.
