Re: Campus Wide Water Shut Down

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Student Assistants:

Due to critical repairs to several of our water main valves, restrooms and drinking water within all campus buildings will not be available on Thursday, May 25 and Friday, May 26.

In consideration of the impact this will have, we request managers and supervisors work with their respective employees to allow work from home options for May 25 and 26. For employees unable to work from home, temporary executive restrooms (with lighting and hand washing capabilities) will be available at four locations on campus. We will also be delivering bottled water on campus wherever needed.

These campus repairs will not impact water availability at the University Town Center or University Glen residential community.

Please note that the search for alternatives dates was not successful. There will be a limited number of students impacted who are in housing, and our Housing & Residential Education team is ensuring that their needs will be accommodated.

Questions regarding these repairs may be directed to facilities.services@csuci.edu or 805-437-8461. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to make campus infrastructure improvements.

Starting Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 5:00am through Friday, May 26, 2023 ending at 10pm

Where will temporary restrooms be located?

Temporary executive restrooms will be located in South Quad, Placer Hall (PD), Ironwood Hall (ADA restroom), and Carden school. See map of locations.

Cases of Bottled Water will be available at the Facilities Services Work Center in Ironwood Hall. Please contact the FS Work Center if you need any bottled water delivered to your area.

Ask your manager how you can safely perform your job without water. Lab technicians have been instructed to work remotely during these two days. Groundskeepers that apply herbicide have been instructed to refrain from spraying during the two days of the outage and as an extra precaution the shop has been stocked with portable emergency eye wash solution. Custodians will be doing training for half of their shift and performing project work the second half that does not require water.

Will all campus offices be open and services provided during the shutdown?

With many employees teleworking during these two days, there may be offices that are not able to open for walk-in services but, should that occur, these offices will still provide services via phone, email, and Teams/Zoom.
